• Terminologies, Sectorial Languages, Specialised Translation (English)

Rosa D’Aloisio has been the teaching coordinator of SSML Carlo Bo located in Bari since 2017. Since 1998, she has been a lecturer in English at the same Institute and has taught the following subjects: Terminologies and Sectorial Languages, and Specialised Translation from English into Italian. Since 1989, she has worked as a freelance translator in English and French for public authorities, companies, legal and professional firms, the Municipality of Bari, Fiera del Levante and the Politecnico of Bari. Since 1993, she has been Expert Witness at the Court of Justice of Bari. She has been an ordinary ANITI member since 2003. She has held training courses for managers and regional employees.

Antonella Di Pilato is the orientation contact person at SSML Carlo Bo located in Bari and Spanish language teacher in charge of the following courses: Translation into Spanish, Interpretation, Terminologies and Sectorial Languages. She also holds two academic courses: Theory and Practice of Conference Interpreting, and Computer Tools for Translation and Interpreting. Since 2011, she has been working as a freelance conference interpreter and translator in English and Spanish. She is registered as an Expert Witness at the Court of Justice of Trani (BT). She is an ordinary AITI member and an ASETRAD professional member. She has taught Legal and Business English at LUM Giuseppe Degennaro University.

• Italian Contemporary Literature

Luigi Abiusi is a writer, literary, film and music critic for the Italian newspaper Il Manifesto. He has been a selector for the Settimana Internazionale della Critica at the Venice Film Festival. He edits the cinema magazine Uzak.it and writes for the following periodicals: Critica letteraria, Filmcritica, Duels.it, Filmparlato.com, Alias, and Cinecritica. He collaborates with the Treccani Encyclopedia of Cinema and is an adjunct professor at the University of Bari, where he deals with literary history and aesthetics of cinema, as well as at the University of Salento. He is a lecturer in Italian Contemporary Literature at the Higher Education Institute SSML Carlo Bo. His publications include the volumes Per gli occhi magnetici (2011) and Tempo di Campana (2008). He is director of ‘Registi Fuori dagli ScheRmi’ festival for the Apulia Film Commission Foundation. As a poet, he published the volumes Non un segno (2002) and Dei comprimari riflessi (2008). Some of his short stories have appeared in anthologies and literary journals.

Francesca Bagorda is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, she teaches at the Chinese Language Laboratory, Written Language Mediation, Sectorial Translation, Business and Conference Interpreting, Consecutive, Negotiation, Chuchotage, and Telephone and Videoconferencing courses. Her working languages are English and Chinese. Her areas of specialisation are law, tourism, and luxury jewellery. She also teaches Italian L2 to Chinese students. She works as a translator and interpreter for the Court of Justice of Brindisi. She also works as a language and cultural mediator at schools and training institutes. She has been a member of the AITI Puglia regional board since 2016.

Anna-Lisa Chiarello has taught French language at the Universities of Bari, Foggia and L’Orientale in Naples. She currently teaches at La Sapienza University of Rome. She is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, where she teaches Terminology and Sectorial Languages and Translation. She occasionally works as a translator and interpreter.

Aljaramneh Fares attended a training course for foreign cultural workers with the NEA (National Education Association) in Naples. He has taught Arabic at the Liceo Classico Europeo in Naples, the University of Basilicata and L’Orientale University of Naples. He currently teaches Oral Mediation, Sectorial Translation, Business and Conference Interpreting, Consecutive and Negotiation Interpreting at SSML Carlo Bo in Bari. He has been collaborating with the following magazines: Mare dei Popoli and Nuove Lettere of the Italian Institute of Culture in Naples. He has translated the poem Volturno, and continues to carry out various translation activities in different fields.

Vanessa Giannuzzi has been teaching Oral Mediation and English Translation (into Italian) at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari since 2016. She teaches foreign languages and culture at upper-secondary schools (English and German). Since 2001, she has been working as a freelance interpreter (meetings, negotiations and company seminars, national and international trade fairs) and translator (technical-scientific, medical, legal, and commercial) in the language combinations English/Italian and German/Italian. Many years of experience c/o multinational companies in Italy, Germany (1 year) and Belgium (7 years), in multicultural and multilingual contexts (English, German, and French).

Halima El rhazi is an adjunct professor of Arabic language at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari. Since 2020, she has been working at the Court of Justice of Bari receiving assignments for expert opinions and interpreting activities. She is a member of the Refugees Welcome Italia association in Bari, where she is a mediator and interpreter.

Svetlana Kouzmenko teaches Written and Oral Mediation along with Russian Grammar and Language Structures at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari. She collaborates permanently as a translator for the publications of the Centre for Nicolaian Studies (Basilica Pontificia di San Nicola) in Bari. She is also a sworn translator at the Court of Justice of Trani and is enrolled in the Roll of Russian Language Experts at the Chamber of Commerce of Bari. Main areas of scientific interest: theory and practice of translation, translation in the field of history and art history.

Richard Lusardi (BSc and MA TEFL) has been teaching English Language and Scientific English for more than 30 years at the Department of Biosciences, Biotechnologies and Environment of the University of Bari Aldo Moro and the Polytechnic University of Bari. He teaches at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, where he has been teaching Translation, Written and Oral Grammar since 2017. He has taught English language in Italy, France, Greece, and England, where he has also carried out courses for teachers of English as a foreign language. He is specialised in technical and scientific translations for the Departments and Institutes of the University and Polytechnic of Bari, for the Provincial Administration and the CNR including Agriculture, Botany, Marine Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Electronic and Management Engineering, Roads and Transport, Architecture, Zoology. In 2008, he was the official translator of the 10th International Architecture Exhibition, at La Biennale di Venezia. He has taught at all levels of school and university education in Italy: primary, lower- and upper-secondary schools specialising in Science, three- and five-year university degree courses, and master’s degrees.

Silvia Moresi teaches Written Mediation of Arabic Language and Culture at SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, and is a teacher of Literary-editorial Translation from Arabic in the Master’s Degree course at SSML FUSP in Vicenza. She is also an official trainer for the ILA Arabic language certification. Her area of specialisation is poetry translation from Arabic, she translated Le mie poesie più belle (2016) by the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani, and Undici pianeti (2018) by the Palestinian poet Mahmud Darwish for the publishing house Jouvence. She was co-editor and author of “Art and Literature in Revolt from Arab Countries” in the collective volume Arabpop, published by Mimesis publishing house in 2020. In 2021, she co-founded the journal Arabpop, published by Tamu publishing house, where she works as an editor.

Owen O’Neill is a native English teacher originally from London. He is Delta/Celta qualified to teach English as a foreign language, with over thirty years of teaching experience in Italy and the UK. He worked for 18 years at Oxford University Press, a historic English university publishing house, participating in the research, development and promotion in Italy of texts and teaching materials in English, providing training for teachers and students at universities and schools of all levels. He teaches written and oral language production skills that enable the development of language competence. He is an expert in extensive reading and preparation for Cambridge, TOEFL, and IELTS language certifications.

Caterina Pinto teaches Arabic language at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, where she teaches Written and Oral Mediation, Terminology and Sectorial Languages, and Sectorial Translation 1 and 2 (Arabic-Italian). She is involved in the teaching of Arabic, in particular, for students with specific learning disorders. She combines teaching and research work with translations and consultancy for information websites, and national and international non-governmental organisations.

Viola Savaglio is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Bari, where she teaches translation from German into Italian, from Italian into German interpretation and terminology, and sectorial languages in German. She has been working as a translator and interpreter for more than 20 years in the language combinations Italian<>English and Italian<>German, developing a dense network of collaborations mainly with private clients and dealing in particular with the technical and legal sector. She is also active in the field of editorial translation and works as a translator and proofreader with publishing houses such as Fazi and Fandango. Since 2016, she has been President of the Puglia section of the Italian Association of Translators and Interpreters (AITI).

Yermolenko is an adjunct professor of Russian Oral Mediation in the 1st year course, and Business and Conference Interpreting: consecutive and negotiation interpreting, 2nd year. Yermolenko was born in the Russian Federation. She graduated in English and German Languages from the Pedagogical University of Foreign Languages, specialising in foreign language teaching methods. In 2019, she received a Diploma in Russian Language and Literature, and Russian Teaching and Learning Methodologies for Foreigners (RKI) from Lomonossov State University in Moscow. Since 2004, she has been working with local authorities and numerous companies in Puglia as a Business Consultant and Russian Interpreter. She has gained solid experience in business consecutive mode and negotiation interpreting (Italian-Russian) working with the Chamber of Commerce of Bari, ICE, both the Civil and Criminal Court of Justice of Bari and several interpreting agencies.
