Gianluca Sorrentino: I am involved in language mediation and translation studies research. My scholarly and teaching interests include translation studies, the relationship between otherness and text in translation, and the cultural revolution engaged in contemporary Japan by a literary production with a strong female and juvenile traction. Among my publications: the volume Interpretare (Aracne, 2016), the essay Bidirezionalità e multitecnicità nella formazione dell’interprete di conferenza (Aracne, 2011), and the monographs La belligeranza dello scrittore solitario. Il caso Grass (Armando Editore, 2020), L’ io tra riflessione metacritica e ricostruzione eidetica. Il caso nippo-tedesco (Mimesis, 2020).

• Laboratory (French)

Antonella Spagnoli is a former student of Carlo Bo in the 1980s, at that time called Scuola Superiore Interpreti e Traduttori. She has always worked as a conference interpreter and translator in Finance, Economics, Law on the one hand and Infrastructure and Industrial Engineering on the other. Since academic year 2019-2020, she has dedicated herself to teaching with the intention of passing on to the younger generation what she has acquired in decades of professional practice. She is a translator member of the Associazione Italiana Traduttori Interpreti (AITI) with elective appointments until 2020 and an interpreter member of the Association Internationale Interprètes de Conférence (AIIC). Since 2022, she has been a lecturer in French Language and Translation at Guglielmo Marconi University. All this in a continuous osmosis between teaching and profession.

Valentina Berni graduated in Law from the University of Rome, qualified as a lawyer she worked as a legal advisor at Goldman Sachs Group. She gained extensive experience in project management working with the International Organization for Migration (IOM). Since 2008, she has worked for the Department of Research and Development at Guglielmo Marconi University as a project manager, being also the legal coordinator of the Department. In 2015, she founded the Vallda Association in Rome with the aim of promoting mutual exchange and empowerment between individuals and organisations through training, culture and networking activities. Since 2015, she has been collaborating with the Erasmus office of SSML Carlo Bo, where she is in charge of mobility and research projects funded by the Erasmus+ programme.

Simona Brusco teaches General Linguistics. She graduated from La Sapienza University of Rome, where she received her Ph.D. and was a research fellow under the mentorship of Prof. Tullio De Mauro. She is an expert in comprehension processes and didactics for the development and control of language skills. She has taught Modern Language Didactics at La Sapienza University of Rome, for which she also conducted Writing Workshops, Language Skills Enhancement Workshops and taught courses in Italian as a foreign language at the University Language Center (Centro Linguistico di Ateneo). She carries out professional and research activities for university, public and private bodies: La Sapienza, University for Foreigners of Siena, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, Miur, Indire, S. Pio V, Rai educational, Save the Children Italia, SSIS Lazio, Municipality of Rome, Retecamere, Rome Chambers of Commerce, Ares.

• Oral Mediation (English)

Riccardo Catania has been teaching at SSML Carlo Bo institute since 2007 and has been freelancing as an interpreter and translator for more than 20 years. He has done the work for national and international institutions (Senate of the Republic, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Confindustria, Lazio Region, Ministry of Interior, FAO, EU Representation in Italy, CONI, FIGC, UEFA, British Embassy, to name a few), financial institutes, universities, research institutes, religious institutes and others. He performs interpreting services for RAI, La7, and Sky television broadcasts also in the football field.

• Grammar and Language Structures (Spanish)

Olga Colorado Camuñas works as a translator and teacher of Spanish in updating courses for interpreters at the Interpreters and Translators Office of the Chamber of Deputies. She has been a speaker at the Seminar on Lessons Learned at the Army’s School of Foreign Languages for which she has also been a lecturer in advanced language courses. She was a member of the Examination Board at the Prime Minister’s Office and the Ministry of Productive Activities. As a translator, she has worked with ENEL, Prestige Edition International magazine, Scuola Grande di San Rocco, and the online religious magazine Interris, among others.

• Terminology and Sectorial Languages (French)

Frédéric Ginersio is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti studi SSML Carlo Bo in Rome. He has taught French Language at St. George’s Institute in Rome. He is an aggregate member of AITI and an interpreter and translator at the Embassy of Burkina Faso in Rome.

• Computer Tools and Digital Communication

Daniele Leoncini has been teaching Computer Tools and Digital Communication for Translation and Interpreting at SSML Carlo Bo in Rome since 2001. His research mainly focuses on new methodologies of Software C.A.T. tools for language mediation and translation. He is an author of website development and implementation where he is involved in graphic and programmatic editing.

• Grammar and Language Structures – Terminology and Specialised Languages (Chinese)

Alesssadro Listuzzi is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Rome. He has taught Chinese<>Italian Consecutive Interpreting in the Master’s Degree course in Interpreting at Unint University of Rome. He is a lecturer in Chinese language for the Foreign Language Center (CLE) of the Carabinieri Corps. He has served as interpreter and Chinese language consultant for the Istituto Superiore di Sanità (ISS) in Rome within the AIDS project. He carries out interpreting and cultural mediation activities at the Caritas Outpatient Clinic in Rome. In 2010, he edited the publication of the book Le parole della salute “Chinese-Italian medical glossary”.

• Translation 3 (Russian)

Federico Petteruti graduated from La Sapienza University of Rome and went on to obtain the qualification to teach in upper-secondary schools. He obtained the TRKI international certificate of Russian language proficiency issued by the Pushkin Institute in Moscow, with authorisation from the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. He has obtained the qualification to perform the professions of guide and tour guide in the Russian language. He is responsible for the Russian-language portal www.mamaroma.it, which offers guided tours, interpreting and translation services. He deals with the correction and revision of dissertations by Russian-speaking students in Italy and consulting for Russian companies operating in Italy.

Valeria Petrocchi has taught English language and translation at the University for Foreigners of Perugia. She is a lecturer at the Higher Education Institute Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Rome. She works as an interpreter at the High Court of Justice of Rome and is professional translator approved by the British Embassy. In 2011, she founded the book series TPTI: Theory & Praxis of Translation and Interpreting. She is a member of the scientific committee of the journal Translation and Translanguaging in Multilingual Contexts, published by John Benjamins. Anna Rita Prontera has taught French language at the University of L’Aquila, Faculty of Economics and D.U. in Economics and Management of Tourist Services and in Social Work. At the same University, she was a linguistic collaborator for the French language at the Language Centre. She was a French language tutor and lecturer at S. Pio V University in Rome – Faculty of Interpreting and Translation. She has taught French Language at La Sapienza University of Rome – Faculty of Communication Sciences. She occasionally collaborates with publishing houses for translations from and into French.

• Translation (Spanish)

Francesco Saina translates and interprets from Spanish, English and French into Italian. Translator in the medical-scientific, corporate and audiovisual sectors and interpreter in congress, institutional and academic settings. He also teaches translation, interpreting and language technology at many universities in Rome and collaborates on academic and corporate research projects on translation and interpreting technologies and natural language processing (NLP). With the La Sapienza University NLP research group, he realised DiBiMT, the first entirely hand-crafted system for the analysis and evaluation of machine translation systems from a semantic point of view. The work was awarded Best Resource Paper at the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL) conference, the most prestigious event in the field of language technology.

• Language Laboratory (Spanish)

Francesca Saltarelli lives and works in Rome. She teaches Spanish in the Language Laboratory (oral mediation, translation into Italian, special languages). She is a professional conference interpreter, a member of Assointerpreti (National Association of Professional Conference Interpreters) and an editorial translator (she has translated for Laterza, Adelphi, Newton Compton, Castelvecchi, Skyra, to name a few publishing houses, and for the literary journals Baldus, Nuova Prosa, Fili d&#39, and Aquilone). In 1999, she was a finalist for the First Translation Prize of the Instituto Cervantes in Italy with the essay Le domande della vita by Fernando Savater. In 2022, she taught Spanish Special Languages at the first level Master in Management of Artistic and Cultural Resources at IULM University in Rome. She teaches simultaneous and consecutive interpreting at the Office of the Prime Minister in updating courses for civil servants.

• Translation into English

Antonino Scoppettuolo raduated from the Imperial College of Science, Technology & Medicine in London. He was an academic officer at the Army’s Foreign Languages School in Perugia, Italy, and went on to teach in the field of electronic bioengineering at the Faculty of Medicine at La Sapienza University of Rome.
In the field of publishing and translation, he collaborates with Italian and foreign press agencies, newspapers and broadcasters.

• Laboratory of Terminology and Sectorial Languages, both Written and Oral (English)

Taylor, Alan Daniel: after studying Biological Sciences in the UK, he continued his studies in the field of English language training and teaching. As a consultant in the training sector for over 20 years, he has been involved in designing training courses for Italian and international organisations. With many years of experience as a trainer in the field of communication and English language, he has taught at Italian and foreign universities (University of Malta, European Business School, European School of Economics) as well as at various management training schools (Ateneo Impresa, IRI Management). As a professional translator, he collaborates with Italian and international companies and organisations (Accademia dei Lincei, RomaEuropa Festival, Pirelli SpA, Regione Lazio, Regione Calabria, Municipality of Rome, Italian Tennis Federation). He teaches in English and Italian and translates from Spanish and Italian into English. He spent four years in Japan (until 2019) where he worked as a trainer for large Japanese and international companies, always continuing his translation work.

Francesca Romana Terranova graduated in Lingue e Civiltà + Orientali from La Sapienza University of Rome in 2014, she spent a period of language training in Beijing teaching Italian L2 to Chinese learner trainees and in 2021 obtained a Master’s Degree in Chinese Language Didactics from L’Orientale University of Naples. She is currently a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Rome and a teacher in an upper-secondary school with a teaching qualification in Chinese Language and Culture.

Xi Yuan holds a PhD degree from the Faculty of Humanities at La Sapienza University of Rome, where she has taught Chinese Language. She is a lecturer at the Istituto di Alti Studi SSML Carlo Bo in Chinese Language Mediation and Business Conference Interpreting. She teaches Chinese Language and Translation at the Master course in Oriental Languages and Cultures at IULM University. She is a guest lecturer in the Italian-Chinese Translation Strategies courses at the Beijing Foreign Studies University. She holds a Master’s Degree in Political and Institutional Communication and Marketing from LUISS University (School of Government and School of Business).

Svetlana Zueva to present, Svetlana Zueva has been teaching at Scuola Superiore di Mediazione Linguistica Carlo Bo in Rome for the degree course in Language Mediation Sciences. Lecturer in Russian Grammar, History of the Russian Language, Techniques of Conference Interpreting between Italian and Russian for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year, Translation (ITA>RUS).
Since 2013 to present, she is an adjunct professor of Russian Language and Linguistics at Scuola Superiore per Mediatori Linguistici di Perugia – Degree Course in Language Mediation Sciences. She is lecturer in: Russian Language and Linguistics (3rd year), Conference Interpreting between Russian and Italian (2nd year), Oral Mediation (simultaneous and consecutive from Italian into Russian, 3rd year), Russian: Legal Language, Master’s Degree Course (Text Linguistics, Specialist Translation).

2020-2021 – At the publishing house Zlatoust (St. Petersburg, Russia) she participated in and passed the examinations of the online course The First Lesson of the Russian Language for Foreigners (the advanced course for teachers). She published along with Eugenia Gresta the coursebook, Il russo per i più coraggiosi, with exercises for first-year students (CompoMat Editions, 2018).
